Architectural Licensing

Some think of it as a four letter word, others are just confused by it.

Copyright, provides both the ability to clearly identify and protect intellectual property. If we didn't have it, the success of new innovative ideas and businesses would be seriously compromised.

Licensing intellectual property, is how we are able to create and innovate while also putting food on our tables and sending our children to college (the smart ones anyway).

Attribution is and acknowledgement of the source of copyrighted material, but it does not feed bellies.

Architecture is an act of creation, isolated in significance unless shared through another medium.

Photography is an act of creation, limited in significance without a compelling subject to capture.

The biggest challenge of licensing for architecture firms is understanding what they have a right to use, how they can use it, and for how long. Additionally, as a firm's portfolio grows, so does the list of licensed content they have to manage and fund.

I understand your firm's needs and make licensing easy and reasonable.

Included with every architectural commission

The Perpetual Promotion License

Self promote through your firm's produced marketing material in both digital and print (forever).

Social Networking Perpetual License

I provide a set of all images formatted for blogs and social networking using both your firm and my watermark, placed tastefully and discretely on every image. Why? Ever see a great project online (without a link) and wonder, who did it?

The Perpetual Portfolio License

Former employees of your firm are granted personal use of any web resolution image for use in a print or digital portfolio.

Competition Perpetual License

Get out there, show them why you’re the best.

The only "Gotcha", is making sure that fine print in the competition guidelines maintains the original copyright and will not republish submitted images outside of the context of the competition.

Editorial License

Publish in either print and digital books and articles for 5 years from delivery.

Civic Project License

All projects produced for public municipalities are granted a non-exclusive license granting rights equal to the firm that commissioned the work. The public paid you, the public paid me.

Additional Licensing Options

Third Party Non-Commercial License

Granted to the property owner for projects requiring property staff/security for coordination and access to location.

This limited license grants a property owner the right to print images of their property for internal purposes only.

Joint-Third Party Commercial License

Available upon considerations of total investment in initial project by collaborated funding. Additional parties may be limited in the scope of finished work provided or limitations on use.

Third Party Commercial Stock Licenses

Individual images or film segments may be licensed by contractors or commercial venders.

Exclusivity

(Must be pre-negotiated) This entitles exclusivity to distribution and publication of images by the commisioning body soley. The photographer maintains copyright to portfolio display and artist proofs.
